The VP, Sales position is a key new client sales position and is responsible to identify, develop and drive new business revenues within an assigned vertical. The position has primary responsibility to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle, exuding a passion for understanding the needs of the customer and articulating the value of YA’s products and solutions in meeting those needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes key sales opportunities for YA, working with management to establish tangible sales objectives and plans to meet those objectives and new business opportunities.
  • Engages new prospect and client contacts, and at times, their agencies to fully understand their needs and where YA’s capabilities can meet those needs with a differentiated value proposition.
  • Solicits new business and participates in community or other service programs to develop goodwill.
  • Creates and delivers presentations to support the client sale by demonstrating how the application of YA’s products and services help clients achieve their promotional marketing objectives.
  • Closes/wins the sales opportunity.
  • Maintains regular contact with key client personnel for the purpose of significantly improving YA’s relationships with clients, ensuring that programs are executed in a timely, high quality and value-creating way leading to additional business in the future.
  • Creates strategic and appropriate responses to RFI/RFP’s to help lead to the sale.
  • Negotiates contract terms with new clients. Working with the appropriate YA departments, provides the necessary feedback to establish the business requirements, define the pricing, forecast budgets, and determine the profitability of each contract. Serves as an integral part of the team and leads the preparation of quotes, proposals and reports for the client organizations.
  • Provides accurate client sales projections and business development reports.
  • Makes ongoing cross selling efforts with customers in the office on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrates personal commitment to excellence in sales and service to customers and other employees.
  • Supports and embraces YA values.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality with all business.
  • Travels extensively as required to create new relationships, sales opportunities and grow revenues.
  • Portrays leadership by exhibiting confidence in self and others, effectively influences actions and opinions of others, accepts feedback from others, and gives appropriate recognition to others.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 Base Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University.
  • Experience: Prior commissioned sales experience required – demonstrated performance as a revenue generator. Understanding of the full range of promotional engagement marketing. Experienced in developing sales strategies and executional plans.
  • Selling Skills: Good analytical acumen and big picture skills. Excellent at high concept solution sales. Ability to clearly communicate the overall value proposition and market positioning as it relates to positioning YA in the market and with clients.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Polished and experienced presentation skills. Ability to “tell a story” or guide the client on YA’s full set of products and solutions.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Finance skills including ability to create pro forma analysis highly preferred.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Digital marketing savvy.
    • Proficiency in MS Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Experience using SalesForce.com preferred
  • Proficient working with social and mobile digital consumer facing technology and having the knowledge and user experience to define and integrate promotional marketing applications with clients across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, foursquare, etc.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience in systems design and the technical requirements necessary for conducting sophisticated database marketing and analytics initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of contractual terms
  • Ability to work effectively while traveling and/or as a remote employee
  • Ability to build and maintain a positive rapport with new and existing clients
  • Independent travel required up to 50%
  • Attention to detail and the ability to effectively multi-task in a client-centric, deadline driven atmosphere
  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate thoughts and points in a collaborative atmosphere
